Episode #158 Shownotes

I get the feeling that this will not be an uplifting podcast to listen to. It deals with the really shitty month I've been having and to top it all I had a hell of a time getting the damn thing uploaded. Have I mentioned recently that I really hate Mevio?

The 1st of my sporting teams continues to do poorly. Since this was recorded Everton drew 0-0 with Fulham and are currently bottom of the Premier League without a win in their first 5 games. Lets hope this isn't an omen for Monday night with the Bears and Packers.

Speaking of the Bears I think a small explanation of Jen's very cool bumper is in order. The first half of it is the 'Superbowl Shuffle' a single that was released before the Bears Superbowl victory in 1985. Unlike England there has never really been a tradition of 'cup final songs' and this is the only one I am aware of. It's truly hilarious and to this day the players involved get teased about it. The second half is the fight song for Da Bears 'Bear Down, Chicago Bears'. Unlike terrace chants in British football the crowd participation is much more formalised in the US and the vast majority of Universities and pro teams have orchestrated fight songs that get played after every score. This one dates from 1941 and I've sung it myself several times. It's a truly great communal experience.

A couple of live performances and a couple of produced videos this week. Beryl Beloved seem to put on quite a show.

Still No Show

My plans for the new podcast project are falling down around my ears. I'm not going to be recording a podcast this week.

Still Off The Air

After another frustrating week, my microphone has decided to stop working. I just can't be arsed to fight it. There will be no podcast again this week.

No show this week.

Following a really shitty week involving the deaths of my Grandmother and three dogs and also the continuing technological and scheduling frustrations of my new podcast project I'm just not in the right frame of mind to produce a podcast this week.
