Episode #157 Shownotes

Hopefully next week I'll be in a position to announce my new podcasting project. The latest test recording is tomorrow, and if it's successful I can move forward with formalising the whole thing.

I still wants bumpers/promos for my show. Failing that you can send barking mad feedback to ourobouros.podcast[at]gmail.com.

Not a great deal on the video front this week. The I AM SAM video is a great example of minimalist music video making.

Episode #156 Shownotes

I recently heard of a demonstration of how non-liberal Hollywood can be. Emma Thompson's latest film is the sequel to her very popular kids film 'Nanny McPhee'. The original, British title was 'Nanny McPhee & The Big Bang', In America it was renamed 'Nanny McPhee Returns'. I'm so jaded by the American right I can't even get angry any more.

As mentioned in the show here's the video to 'Here Is Hoping' by Cerulean, the former band of Noel Kelly from The Hush Now. I absolutely love this track and the video is rather spiffing too.

I still want bumpers and promos. Send them to ourobouros.podcast[at]gmail.com

Episode #155 Shownotes

For those who don't know and haven't been able to work out, Friggatriskaidekaphobia is a fear of Friday the 13th.

Witness the vision of beauty that is Yvonne Strahovski in Chuck. I'm expecting contact from her lawyers with a restraining order any day now...

There have been a couple of big signings in the Premiership confirmed since this was recorded. Manchester City have signed Mauro Balotelli to add to their already very deep roster of strikers and Chelsea have signed the Brazilian midfielder Ramires for a ridiculous amount of money.

Plans are advancing for my new podcast project. It's going to take some technical testing and some thought, but I'm very excited about entering a new area of the podosphere.

I still want bumpers to play on my show. You can send them to ourobouros.podcast[at]gmail.com.

Only 2 videos this week. A nice performance video from Scattered Hamlet and a live recording of the lovely Kiara Elles

Episode #154 Shownotes

Having now recovered from yesterdays wedding and watched the finale of 'Sherlock' it's time to write some belated shownotes. I'll let you know what I think of 'Sherlock' on next weeks show...

One thing I didn't mention about Avatar: The Last Airbender that is kind of unique is the fact that major characters are clearly based on Inuit/Eskimo (whatever the correct term is nowadays) culture. It's a common practice to base fantasy races on recognizable races from the real world (see anything David Eddings ever wrote), but I don't think I've ever seen Inuits/Eskimos done before. For a show that's based predominantly on eastern cultures it's rather unexpected too. Of course they cocked it up in the Shyamalan film. Read this very good blog post about 'race bending' for a perfect summation of how badly the live action film got it wrong.

Remember if you want to record me a bumper you can send it to ourobouros.podcast[at]gmail.com.

Not a bad selection of videos this week. One live performance and two rather nice produced videos.
